General Guidelines

  • Only bonafide, full-time students who are enrolled in a degree, postgraduate degree, or diploma course of a minimum duration of one academic year, and whose examination is conducted by the university or college affiliated to a university after passing the 12th class examination, are eligible to participate.
  • Students of open universities shall be considered bonafide students and will be eligible to participate provided they fulfil the other conditions.
  • Only students who are less than 25 years of age on the 1st of July of the current academic year can participate. There is no minimum age for participation.
  • A studentshall not be allowed to represent more than one university during a single academic year.
  • Provisional admission to a course at a university or college shall not make a student eligible to represent that university.
  • A student employed on a full-time basis shall not be eligible to participate.
  • In the case of a student migrating from one university to another, the migration will be considered eligible only after the admission in the new university is regularized and the student is admitted as a bonafide student by the new university.
  • AIU subscription fee is mandatory for participation in AIU Youth Affairs programmes by universities/institutions.

  • The maximum strength of the contingent from each university can be 60, including 1 Dean/Director or equivalent representative, 2 Team Managers (preferably one male and one female), student participants, student accompanists, and professional accompanists. Universities having female participants are advised to mandatorily depute one female team manager.
  • Universities may bring as many student and professional accompanists as required, based on their performance needs, provided the total contingent size does not exceed 60.
  • Sharing of professional accompanists between universities is permitted. However, in such cases, the professional accompanist will be counted in both contingents, and applicable fees will be charged to both universities.

At maximum, 2 members of the contingent that represented a particular university at the zonal may be replaced under unforeseen circumstances. However, the replaced member will not be eligible to participate in any solo Events.

Participants should carry Identity Cards with photographs, signed by the appropriate authorities of their respective University.

The contingent leader shall have to deposit his/her one University flags with the host University. They should also keep one university flag with them for the cultural procession.

The participating University will have to bear the travelling expenses.

Meals shall be provided by the Host University, starting from lunch one day before the fest begins and continuing until breakfast the morning after the valedictory ceremony.

  • Free board and lodging will be provided to the participating teams during the Inter Zonal and National Youth Festivals.
  • Participating university troupes may be accommodated as guests in student hostels, using common rooms, verandas, and similar spaces.
  • Accommodation will be provided from the night one day before the start of the fest until the morning after the valedictory ceremony.

Each participant including team official will be required to deposit registration fee @ Rs. 3500/- per participant.

A refundable caution money of Rs. 5000/- (Rupees five thousand only) shall be deposited by each participating university at host university registration desk/venue or through digital mode in advance.

  • All participants and officials are advised to bring adequate warm bedding, blankets, woolen clothing, essential medicines, and locks for personal safety and comfort.
  • It is strongly recommended that all members of the contingent get vaccinated against cholera and typhoid prior to the journey.
  • Students should be instructed to dress appropriately, keeping in mind both the prevailing weather conditions and the cultural spirit of the youth festival.

Two stamp photographs of each participant, accompanists and official delegates are required to be sent to the host University in advance.

  • If the behaviour of any contingent is found to be contrary to the objectives of the festivals, the host University may take suitable action against the concerned members. An individual or team may be debarred from participating in future youth festivals for three years, with intimation to the AIU.
  • No official or member of any University shall make press statements on controversial issues.
  • Consumption of liquor or intoxication, eve-teasing, influencing adjudicators, and indecent behaviour inside the campus and venue are strictly prohibited. Violations of this clause will be subject to disciplinary action, which may include debarring the concerned University team or official from participation in Inter University Youth Activities for a period determined by the AIU Cultural Committee.

  • Participants are strongly advised to avoid using any materials or props involving fire, inflammable substances, direct fuel, fireworks, arms, weapons, or any other items that may pose a danger to themselves, others, or the host university’s infrastructure.
  • If the use of such materials is essential for cultural or artistic expression, prior written approval must be obtained from the Host University well in advance. The Host University reserves the right to prohibit the use of any such materials if deemed unsafe or potentially harmful to their premises or attendees.
  • This advisory is issued to promote safety and the smooth conduct of events and does not waive the safety obligations of participants or organisers.
  • To promote creativity, Cultural Contingents are requested to present new cultural items as far as possible in all competitions of the festival.

Disqualification of a participant on the grounds of ineligibility will result in the automatic disqualification of the university from the event(s) in which the particular student has participated.

Competitors participate in the Inter University Youth Festivals entirely at their own risk. Neither the host nor AIU will be responsible for any unfortunate circumstances.

  • The decision of the jury members appointed for different events shall be final and binding on all.
  • It is expected that their judgement will be respected. In case of any dissatisfaction, the matter may be referred to the Jury of Appeals.
  • The Protest, if any, should be lodged with the Organizing Secretary/Convener of the Competition within one hour of the end of the competition.
  • No protest shall be entertained on matters regarding judgement.
  • Protests can be entertained on matters related to violation of rules or improper conduct of the contest. There will be a protest fee of INR 1000/- (One thousand) only. This fee will not be refunded unless the protest has been upheld by the Jury of Appeals.
  • No appeal shall lie against the decision of the Jury of Appeals.
