About the Programme

The Technology-based Entrepreneurship Development Programme primary focuses on training entrepreneurs and budding startups understand the entire startup creation process right from brainstorming ideas to building viable innovation driven business. Participants gain insight into indigenous technologies developed or made available by R&D institutions for commercial use.

The Programme includes sessions on the essentials of entrepreneurship, evaluation of the prevalent socio-economic scenario, identification of business opportunities, schemes of assistance offered by various constituents of the support system, preparation of a technically feasible and economically viable project report and the nitty gritty of managing a company.

Depending upon the nature of the project chosen by the innovator, online mentoring sessions with technical experts and various sessions on finance and technology are organised.

The Program caters to aspiring or early-stage entrepreneurs who have minimum graduation or diploma (3 years) in Science & Technology and train via a structured training program which spans for 4 weeks.

Programme Objectives

The primary objectives of the training program is as follows: -

  • Develop entrepreneurial mindset among the Science, Technology, Engineering & Medicine (STEM) graduates and diploma holders.
  • Promote small enterprises by tapping the latent talents of aspiring entrepreneurs through training.
  • Convert jobseekers into job-creators through providing them business acumen.
  • Provide networking opportunities through which the aspiring entrepreneurs can connect with industry experts.

Target Group

The aspiring or early stage entrepreneurs presently enrolled/completed a full time degree / diploma at a recognized University, College or Polytechnic.

Programme Duration & Mode

The TEDP Program is scheduled to last for four weeks and will be held online.

National Science & Technology Entreprenuership Devepoment Board (NSTEDB) – Department of Science & Technology

The National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), established in 1982 by the Government of India under the aegis of Department of Science & Technology, is an institutional mechanism to help promote knowledge driven and technology intensive enterprises. The Board, having representations from socio-economic and scientific Ministries/Departments, aims to convert "job-seekers" into "job-generators" through Science & Technology (S&T) interventions.

NSTEBD is tasked with promoting knowledge-based and innovation-driven enterprises and fostering entrepreneurial and self-employment opportunities for STEM professionals.

About Chitkara Innovation Incubator Foundation

Chitkara University places a high value on an entrepreneurial culture. With the vision "To promote entrepreneurial spirit amongst youth, researchers, engineers, and society at large by promoting cutting edge technology & nontechnology start-ups which will lead to economic and social development of the country," Chitkara University opened its first incubator "Chitkara Innovation Incubator Foundation (CIIF)" in 2013.

This incubator provided a platform for the region's aspiring startups, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

CIIF registered as a corporation under Section 8 of the Company Act on October 30, 2015. A month later, DST, Government of India, recognized CIIF as a Technology Business Incubator.

CIIF-incubated startups come from a variety of industries, including Agritech, Healthtech, Edtech, SAAS, Fintech, etc.
