Self-Healing Orthopedic Metallic Implants

To improve the bio-functionality of the metallic implants, Ti6Al4V alloy based implants has been fabricated with desired microstructural and mechanical properties using 3D printing and Hap based composite surface coatings have been applied for making the substrate bioactive.

At TRL5, these specimens have been successfully tested for improved anti-wear properties and bioactivity in terms of osseogeneration capability and antimicrobial properties combined with mechanical properties emulating human bone.
