PHD in
Law

Chitkara University’s Doctoral Program in Law enables successful legal researchers and professionals to either extend their professional careers or pursue academic careers by attaining solid theoretical knowledge of conceptualized legal issues and developing research skills. The program also helps students, lawyers, judicial officers, etc. to analyse dynamic situations, find out right explanations for contemporary problems, and implement the best workable solutions to complex legal issues.

Notably, the doctoral program at Chitkara University is different from a traditional PhD in Law as it is uniquely designed.

Program Overview

While an LLM degree provides in-depth knowledge of law and legal complications, it requires a PhD degree to develop a deep understanding of diverse unforeseen legal problems that need research-oriented solutions.

  • Seasoned Faculty Members

The Faculty includes an outstanding group of influential, law experts and active experts in their respective fields. The faculty get together to form a vibrant and well-integrated intellectual community, where collaborations and exchanges across fields are common. The faculty laboriously helps students from the start of their programme until the completion of their research work, to support the development of their ideas and their integration in the international research community.

  • Outcome Oriented Approach

All doctoral researchers will have the ability to characterise and solve socio-legal problems using advanced research tools. They would be able to derive policy implications from their research and communicate these to policymakers, practitioners, and other academics in a manner that is comprehensible. They will also be able to peer review others’ research and offer constructive criticism; and extend the frontiers of the discipline through their own innovative research.

  • Multiple Career Avenues

Doctoral researchers may choose to become academicians, work in government, professionals, multinational organisations, or in the research arms of major institutions. The students achieve a substantial understanding of contemporaneous legal issues, thus enabling them to take a lead in ongoing debates within society. Along with this, it is also warranted that by the end of their coursework, students compete effectively in the academic job, professional market and all sectors of their choice.
