What is NOVATE+?+
NOVATE+ is North India’s biggest event on Innovation where innovative project ideas with commercial potential are showcased and get an opportunity to receive prototyping funding to develop their project ideas. NOVATE was launched by Chitkara University in 2017.
What is NOVATE+ 2020?+
This year’s edition of NOVATE+ i.e. NOVATE+ 2020 is all about finding solutions to different COVID-19 problems. Please refer to theme areas of NOVATE+ 2020 on the website

I don’t have idea related to themes areas listed there in, Can I still submit my entry?+
The theme areas that are listed on the website are just indicative; the broad theme area of NOVATE+ 2020 is providing solutions for COVID19 problems. You can submit any idea that can help in solving COVID19 problems.
YES. If you are a student/faculty from any institution/university in India or you are a registered start-up anywhere within India then you are eligible to participate in NOVATE+ 2020.
What are the benefits of participating in NOVATE+ 2020?+
- You stand a chance to win funding of INR 2.5 lacs from Chitkara University NewGen IEDC
- You stand a chance to win funding of INR 4.0 lacs from Chitkara University TIDE 2.0.
- You can win research grant of INR75 lacs from Chitakara University
- In addition to project funding and research grant, you can win cash prizes of upto 5 lacs.
What is the cash prize 5 lac for?+
The best idea of NOVATE+ 2020 with a complete working solution will be adjudged winner of the competition and it will receive cash prize of INR 5 Lac.
How would I be eligible for 75 lac research support?+
If you think your idea requires a lot of research and you need a lot of resources to carry out the research then you must indicate the same while submitting your entry in NOVATE+ 2020. The committee will review it based on merit of the idea, proposed justification, research record of the applicant etc.
How can I submit my idea to NOVATE+ 2020?+
At this stage we are inviting ideas under two categories
- Prayerise – In this segment we are looking for ideas to stay positive during this difficult times of COVID-19. Submissions are due by May 10. Top three ideas in Prayerise segment will receive cash prizes of INR 15,000 (first position), INR10,000 (second position) and INR 5,000 (third position).
- Picturise – In this segment we are looking for innovative and technology oriented ideas for solving different COVID-19 problems. Submissions are due by May 10.
- If your idea gets shortlisted in Picturise section then you will be given an opportunity to implement your solution before May 30, 2020. We are looking for software solutions based on AI or AR/VR or Machine Learning or any other software technology.

Can I submit my idea to both Prayerise and Picturise?+
Yes, you are allowed to submit ideas to both Prayerise and Picturise. Please make sure you don’t submit the exact same idea in both segments.
I have more than one idea. Can I submit more than 1 idea?+
Yes, you are allowed to submit more than one idea in each of the two categories.
What is the minimum and maximum team size?+
We don’t have any restriction on team size. Also you can participate individually if you want.
I am a student, is it mandatory for me to have a project mentor?+
Having a mentor is not a mandatory requirement.
Do I need to submit my complete solution at this stage in Picturise segment of the competition?+ No, we are not looking for complete solution at this stage. At this stage we are only interested in knowing about your idea. You are welcome to upload any picture/illustrations, block diagram, flowchart, algorithm etc to explain your idea better.
When will I come to know whether my idea is selected in Picturise category?+
We expect to announce the shortlisted teams in Picturise category by May 20. Once your idea is selected, you will be required to submit the complete solution by May 30.
When will the results of Prayerise segment be announced?+
Please stay tuned to NOVATE+ 2020 website for the announcement of results. The results will be declared only after May 30.
