World Environment Day: NSS launches tree plantation drive, urges everyone to care for planet

National Service Scheme launched a massive tree plantation drive, in celebration of World Environment Day on June 5, 2019, at the campus. Many volunteers took part in the well-orchestrated campaign which witnessed overwhelming participation from employees of Chitkara University.

As part of the afforestation drive and ‘Go-Green’ endeavour, Hon’ble Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Vice-Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab; along with Chief Guest Er. Krunesh Garg, Member Secretary, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Patiala; Dr S.C. Sharma, Registrar, Chitkara University, Punjab; Ms. Neelam, Programme Coordinator, National Service Scheme, Chitkara University, Punjab; and Deans & Directors of various departments; who planted various types of saplings to mark the occasion.

The participants also took a pledge to conserve the environment, compensate tree that were felled and to preserve the existing trees and not to indulge in any activities that would cause harm to nature.
