Virender Kadyan, Assistant Professor-Research in CURIN, was invited to pitch in front of United Nations Development Programme members at UNDP Headquarters as well as at United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA with H.E. Mr. Peter Thomson, President of the seventy-first session of the United Nations General Assembly, on May 16, 2017.
UNDP helps countries to simultaneously reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development that leads to transformational change, bringing about real improvements in people’s lives.
They promote an integrated approach to achieve sustainable development that tackles the connected issues of multidimensional poverty, inequality and exclusion, and sustainability, while enhancing knowledge, skills and production technologies to reduce risks and sustain development gains.
The day-two pitch was presented in World Council of People for the United Nations and Stream in Museum presents “A View From The Cloud-Interactive Salon” at United Nations Church Center, New York, USA, on May 17, 2017.
Mr Kadyan stated that it is important to help countries build their capacity to integrate environmental considerations into development plans and strategies, including through managing and sustainably using natural resources; ensuring that natural wealth is used to improve people’s lives; promoting economic recovery and livelihoods, and better targeting policies and social protection for those in need.
His effort was applauded globally and it was a great platform for him to express his thoughts on the same.
