Two days training on Low Vision Rehabilitation & Vision Therapy for Government Ophthalmic officers at Chitkara University

Chitkara School of Health Sciences in collaboration with Government of Punjab organized a two days training program for 15 Government Ophthalmic Officers of Punjab region on Low vision Rehabilitation and Vision Therapy in Chitkara University Campus, Punjab on 19th & 20th July 2018. Staff and Faculty members from Sankara Eye care Institutions sensitized the officers about various therapies and measure to control low vision problems amongst the public. The main objective behind the training program was to reduce the backlog of blindness through identification and treatment of blindness & low vision at primary, secondary and tertiary levels based on the assessment of the overall burden of visual impairment in the Punjab Region.

The session was inaugurated by Dr. Meenakshi Sood (Dy. Dean, Chitkara School Of Health Sciences) in presence of Dr.Keerti Pradhan (Director, MBA-Healthcare Management Program ) Prof. Aditya Goyal (Principal, Sankara Eye care Institution) and other speakers Ms. Renu Thakur, Mr. Noor Uz Zaman and Ms. Ritu Bhandari from Sankara Eye Care Institution.

The training program covered both the theoretical and practical study of the theories and exercises for low vision and vision therapy with hands-on experience and one to one training for each participant for a better understanding of the concept the training program ended with a question-answer round and doubt clearing session taken by Prof. Aditya Goyal. A token of thanks and appreciation for successfully completing the training program was given by Dr. Meenakshi Sood (Dy. Dean, CSHS). The participants were awarded a certificate of participation for successfully completing the training.
