Twenty fourth-year students of Chitkara School of Planning & Architecture (B.Arch.) chiseled in training program by veteran architect Professor Anil Laul at Anangpur Building Centre, Faridabad.
A group of 20 fourth-year students of Chitkara School of Planning & Architecture (B.Arch.) participated in the training program on “appropriate technologies” that featured the training of the hollow-core interlocking block; the funicular shell roofing; geodesic dome; and the Ram Lochan tiles. This was done under the guidance of veteran architect Professor Anil Laul at Anangpur Building Centre, Faridabad.
Architect Anil Laul’s contributions to the field of architecture and building technologies have been duly recognized at national and international forums. His honours and awards include: Indian Buildings Congress Award for excellence in built environment; Commendation Certificate for Innovations in Earthquake Engineering 2004 given by his the President of India; Innovative and cost Effective Technology Award 2006 by Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation, Government of India; Kyoto World Water Grand Prize 2009; Bremen Initiative Award 2000; UNCHS – Good Practices Recognition, among others.
Mrs Vaishali Pedram (Associate Professor – CSPA), also participated in the workshop along with the team that was exposed to various other technologies such as flooring systems; arched foundations; walling systems; disaster resistant buildings; appropriate human settlement design; space frames and cube-on vertex. The students─Bhanu, Ekta, Kriti, Manav, Sahiba, Sonal, Abhishek, Amrita, Deborah, Divya, Garima, Jaiveer, Malvika, Megha, Ojasvi, Sugam, Sunanda, Sweta, Tanya and Varunpreet Singh─had round-the-clock hands-on experience in these technologies along with informative lectures, discussions and informal interactive sessions with Professor Anil Laul.
The workshop was held from January 20−24, 2013 and organized by architect Abhishek Sharma (Assistant Professor – CSPA) as an educational trip under his subject of “Low Cost Buildings”.
