Tribute to the Iron Man of India by Chitkara School of Hospitality

Chitkara School of Hospitality celebrated National Unity Day “Rashtriya Ekta Divas”, to commemorate birthday of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. To pay our sincere tributes to the “Iron Man of India”, a lecture on “Integration of princely states into the union of India” was conducted at Plato hall.

Celebration was done into three parts

• Political integration of India
• Cultural integration of India
• Gastronomic integration of India

Political integration of India
Mr. C.M. Bhan, Director, Chitkara School of Hospitality, introduced the importance of this day to the assemblage followed by Mr. Amit Bhatnagar, Dean, Chitkara School of Hospitality, who elaborated the role of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel in integrating all the states into what we all see today as our country, India.

Cultural and Gastronomical integration of India
In addition to the political integration, students of Chitkara School of Hospitality took a self-initiative to dress up ethnically, representing different states displaying cultural integration; and faculty & staff were served dishes from different regions of India depicting gastronomic integration. The dishes that highlighted the menu were:

• Dal Panchmel – Sarson ka Saag – Makki ki Roti
• Baisan ke Gatte
• Lemon Rice
• Poter Dolma
• Baghare Baingan
• Phirni
