The Office of Student Affairs organise a ‘Poetry Competition’ to mark World Poetry Day 2021
The Office of Student Affairs under the patronage of Chitkara University, Punjab organised an online ’Open Mic Poetry Competition’ on the occasion of World Poetry Day 2021. The competitions were organized in two categories as “English Poetry” and “Hindi/Punjabi Poetry”, in which participants have to present their poetic skills in ‘English’ and ‘Hindi/Punjabi’ as the medium of communication.
Students from various departments of Chitkara University enthusiastically participated in the competition and expressed their tandem of thoughts in an explosive manner. The event was organized online through a zoom meeting and led by Dr Neelam Verma, Dean of Student Affairs, Chitkara University, Punjab.
In the English Poetry Competition, student Arshadeep Kaur Dhillon (BCA) finished the first position, while Smita Vishwas (CSE) and Abhishek D Raj (CSH) secured second and third place respectively. Student Aayushi Gupta (CSE) secured the first position, Vidhushi Arora (CSE) finished second and Manik Chopra (CSE) stood third in the Hindi/Punjabi poetry competition
World Poetry Day is being celebrated every year on March 21 by Unesco to raise awareness of the importance of this treasured form of expression. Poetry has been one of the best ways to communicate and display a linguistic and cultural identity.
