Chitkara University has been ranked 13th globally among universities in the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of Affordable and Clean Energy in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2022 published recently.

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs, also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the UN in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and to ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. THE Impact Rankings use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparisons across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.

In this year’s rankings which lists over 1,400 universities globally, Chitkara University has been ranked 13th across the world for its impact in the parameter of Affordable and Clean Energy. Chitkara University has achieved the overall position of 201-300 in the rankings and is ranked in the top 100 in SDGs- Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action and secured rank of 101-200 in Clean Water & Sanitation.

With more than 900 faculty members, and 17,000 students from 28 countries, Chitkara University is a proud host of diverse human capital and creates an impact on future global citizens through life-changing research, state-of-art infrastructure, innovative curricula and industry tie-ups. Along with quality education and research, Chitkara University has been actively involved in a wide spectrum of social development activities since its inception.

On the occasion, Dr Ashok Chitkara, Chancellor, Chitkara University, said, “Chitkara University’s position among the world’s most impactful universities is a result of the diligent and consistent efforts put in by the staff and students over the years. We are committed towards all the 17 SDGs and our academic and social outreach programmes directly touch most of the goals. Only a few Indian Universities were able to make it into the prestigious rankings and it is a matter of immense pride for us.”

Besides World University Rankings, Times Higher Education publishes several other rankings of institutions every year on different parameters. In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings-2022, Chitkara University has been ranked 4th in India and is among the top 5 in almost every individual SDG.

Chitkara University is also a proud member of ASSOCHAM, United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), amongst many others. The University has got DSIR-SIRO recognition for its research endeavours besides having government recognition for its Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC), Institution’s Innovation Cell (IIC), Institutional Human Ethical Committee (IHEC) and more.
