Team Alumni wins 10th Edition Chitkara T-20 Cricket Tournament

It was a jubilant moment for the team Alumni of Chitkara University, who lifted the trophy of the Tenth edition of Chitkara T-20 Cricket tournament. The tournament, which is an annual affair, was held between 18th Feb to 25th March 2017 at the Rajpura campus of Chitkara University. A total of 26 matches were played in the tournament including 23 league matches on a knockout basis, 2 semi-finals and one grand finale.

27 total teams participated in the tournament.

The grand finale witnessed clashing of the titans – BPL Tigers and Team Alumni. Team Alumni won the toss and chose to bat and had set a target of 126 runs for BPL tigers. The winning team was led by Rishabh Puri and Rajan was declared the Man of the Match of the game. Man of the Series and best bowler of the tournament was bagged by Ajwinder Singh. Best Batsman of the tournament went to Parveen Chowdhary.

In a tough competition, Team Alumni beat BPL Tigers by 22 runs to become the winners of the T-20 Cricket Tournament for the first time.

Team Alumni had reached the Grand Finale of the T-20 Cricket Tournament by defeating the Team of Computer Science & Engineering by 94 runs in the 24th T20 Cricket Match. Parveen Chaudhary was declared Man of the Match of this game.

BPL Tigers had pulled off a stunning victory in the 25th match to reach the Grand Finale. Chitkara University staff team played tough but lost the match by just 8 runs. Panku clinched Man of the Match title in this game.

The tournament began with Chitkara Business School (CBS) winning the game by 9 wickets from Chitkara School of Mass Communication (CSMC). Man of the Match was bagged by Nishant of CBS.

Every year, the students and the staff of Chitkara University participate in the T-20 Cricket tournament with great cheer and excitement and the tradition has been carried forward much enthusiastically.
