Students learn sugar craft from ace chef
Chef Arti Thapa taught sugar craft, an art that is yet to be explored in India, to the students of Chitkara School of Hospitality. The faculty too took the plunge and learnt the art.
Chef Arti is trained in this art in Malaysia. She is a Hotel Management Graduate and has 14 years of experience in food production including Bakery and Patisserie.
Chef Arti first explained the art of cooking sugar through one hour presentation. She then demonstrated the art of making Pastillage, Pulled Sugar, Ribbons, flowers and assembling into a sculpture. The audience was spellbound by the demonstration of sugar craft, which lasted for an entire day.
The Worthy Chancellor of Chitkara University Dr. Ashok. K. Chitkara also briefly visited the place and highly appreciated the piece of sugar art displayed.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks to Chef Arti and the students appreciated the workshop.
