Students of IAER Visit Punjab Energy Development Authority

The Institute of Advanced Energy Research (IAER), Chitkara University organised visit of student members of Students Chapter of Institution of Engineers to Punjab Energy Development Authority (PEDA), a solar passive building at Chandigarh The students were accompanied by Ms Anu Singla, Associate Professor, IAER.

The building of PEDA has been rewarded with 5 Star rating from Bureau of Energy Efficiency, GoI and is first building to be recognised by this award in North India. Interacting with their officials working, students learned about architecture and technology used for designing of building.

The students were also shown various products running on renewable source of energy such as solar dryer, solar cookers etc. Mr Gurnek Singh, PEDA encouraged the students to work on innovative projects which may be useful to community and lessen the burden on conventional energy sources and fuels.

Student had great exposure in learning about energy efficient building technologies and thermal and power generation applications of solar energy. Director, PEDA appreciated the Chitkara University’s efforts in promoting energy conservation, energy efficiency technologies and renewable energy amongst budding engineers.
