Mitali Bansal and Tanya Taneja of Chitkara School of Planning and Architecture attended a Workshop in Spain that was organised by Manuel Baez, an Architect from Canada, who makes life size structures using different materials.

Baez is a renowned architect and his interest lies in investigation of the fundamental integrative principles of form, structure and generative processes. He has a keen eye for development of construction systems, processes and educational methods derived from the research.

Various concepts that he indulges in are architectural design; form, structure, and process in nature and engineering; morphology; developmental biology; complexity theory; cellular automata; emergence; natural systems theory.

He is a B.Arch from Cooper Union and M.Arch. from Cranbrook. In 2005, Báez was honoured with a Research Achievement Award from Carleton University. More recently, as a way of exploring possible collaborative projects, he has been invited to present his work at the Bath, U.K., offices of consulting engineers and we are proud of the fact that he is taught concepts of architecture to students of Chitkara University.

The structure that the students and Baez made was installed in the University of Alicante, Spain. And Tanya and Mitali are currently pursuing a semester under the Semester Exchange program. They also visited Barcelona.
