Ankush Mittal from Mechanical Engineering spent his last semester from August to December, 2013, as an exchange student in Chung Ang University, South Korea.

He says that it was the best time he ever had in his life. It was a scholarship based program and he got selected for this at the very last moment, which came as a surprise to him.

He said, “I was in a different country with a different culture and language. In the beginning the going was tough as there was language barrier and different food. But thanks to my Korean language course that by the end of one month I could read as well speak some basic Korean, then it started to feel more homely. And with time I got along with the food as well.”

The international office at Chung Ang University organized a number of cultural tours for all the exchange students so that students could know better about the Korean culture.

One thing that took Ankush by surprise was the student teacher relation, as it is much friendlier than India and even the professors’ hangout with the students in the evening and organized parties for students.

There were around 200 exchange students from different countries across the globe. Ankush said that this helped him improve his personality as well as gave a boost to his confidence.
