State Level Pre-RD selection Camp by NSS Regional Directorate and Ministry of Youth Affairs held at Chitkara University

Chitkara University, Punjab was selected by NSS Regional Directorate, Chandigarh and Ministry of Youth Affairs; Sports for hosting a State Level Pre-RD selection Camp for NSS volunteers held on 19th November, 2020.

80 NSS volunteers from various Colleges/Universities all over Punjab came to the campus for the selection camp. Camp initiated with the selection of volunteers in Parade followed by Body measurements and one to one interviews.

The objective of the selection camp was to call the best NSS volunteers from various government and aided universities in Punjab to comprise a team of the volunteers to further represent the state during the North Zone pre-RD selection camp. The regional centre allocated the proportionate num-ber of volunteers among the universities as per their volunteer’s strength from the pre-RD allocation to the state.

The selection procedure for parade was based on few important points:

• Height: 155-165 cm for girls and 165-175 for boys.

Volunteer should be able to do the following:

• Running upto 1.5km in 10 minutes
• Should march constantly for 20 minutes
• Should give/listen command from 25 metres.
• Volunteer should possess good communication skill.
• Volunteer should be good in parade.

Further, NSS Selection committee saw enormous talent through cultural performances. NSS Volunteers from different colleges/universities represented Punjab Culture, tradition and custom through Bhangra, Giddha, Poetry, Boliyan, Singing, Playing of musical instruments and many other performances.

A day ended with felicitating Delegates and wishing good luck to the volunteers for Pre-RD camp.
