Radio Chitkara 107.8 FM represented India in a 24-hour Marathon on the occasion of World College Radio Day, on October 5, 2018. A total of 24 radio stations from across the world were slated to be a part of the event to share their passion and love for music.

Radio Chitkara aired its content from 7:30 am to 8:30 am, for one hour, on the theme “When All Else Fails, College Radio Speaks”, emphasizing the medium’s unique role as a voice for students. Radio Chitkara as well as other participating stations, explored and highlighted how college radio stations provide a platform for students to talk about issues and stories that are important to them.

Other participating radio stations from various countries were: Denmark, Philippines, Finland, USA, Canada, New Zeeland, Australia, UAE, Israel, Turkey, Italy, France, UK, Sweden, Ireland, Ghana, Mexico, Colombia, Greece, Norway, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. The host radio station was Uniradioen (Copenhagen) in Denmark.

At Chitkara University, College Radio has long been a staple of the campus experience, providing a platform for students to have their voices heard and the opportunity to shape their identities. We believe it is a great learning tool for students as it gives them an opportunity to find and hone their voices through on-air experience and practical training – and learn the ins and outs of the business. Further, being involved with college radio allows students to be part of an experience that is continuously at the forefront of the industry – it is also a niche that allows for creative freedom as well as unique programming that is often able to adapt and change with the times much more quickly than mainstream radio.
