Office of Student Affairs, Chitkara University organises a plantation drive to celebrate International Day of Family
The Office of Student Affairs under the patronage of Chitkara University, Punjab organised a tree plantation drive on the theme ‘Capturing Life with Families while Planting’ to celebrate International Day of Family on May 15th, 2021. The drive justified a less contaminated and more sustainable life for the coming generation and left a piece of evidence by following the ‘Sustainable Development Goal number 13’. The SDG 13 urges people around the globe to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts because every country on every continent is affected by climate change. It is wreaking havoc on national economies and harming people’s lives. Weather patterns are shifting, sea levels are increasing, and extreme weather is getting more extreme. The plantation drive was organised keeping in mind the impact of climate.
The United Nations observes the International Day of Families every year on May 15th. The day is observed to bring attention to issues that are critical to the well-being of families, such as health, education, gender equality, children’s rights, and social inclusion, among others. The theme for International Day of Families 2021 is ‘Families and new technologies. It focuses on the impact of new technologies on the well-being of families. The United Nations is gearing up for the International Year of the Family’s 30th anniversary in 2024, with the goal of raising awareness of megatrends and developing responsive family-oriented policies to combat their consequences. The world has been radically shaped by megatrends such as new technology, demographic upheaval, increasing urbanisation, and migration trends, as well as climate change.
