Nursing students celebrate ‘World Breastfeeding Week’; spread awareness with CSR activities
Chitkara School of Health Sciences, Dept. of Nursing; celebrated World Breastfeeding Week between August 1-7, 2019, at the campus.
Themed, ‘Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding,’ the week aimed at organising awareness and activities to encourage breastfeeding to promote better health for baby as well as the mother. As a part of the celebrations, a Community Awareness Talk on – ‘Health education and importance of breastfeeding’, was organised for the residents of Village Kalomajra, Punjab; by the students of B.Sc. Nursing (4th Year). The residents found the event to be highly motivating and informative; and they acknowledged their role in the promotion of breastfeeding – its importance for the baby, mother and community. They thanked Chitkara University and urged them to continue to organise similar informative events in the future.
Back at the campus, a Radio Talk Show was also organised to stress the importance of breastfeeding to promote better health for baby as well as the mother and help parents nurture and bond with their children in early life, when it matters most.
