NSS volunteers become proud part of More To Give Campaign To Promote Organ Donation by NDTV and Fortis

Chitkara NSS volunteers were a part of the interactive audience for special campaign by NDTV and Fortis promoting Organ Donation, at Elante Mall in Chandigarh.
NDTV, together with Fortis, through the More to Give campaign, wanted to bring to the forefront the wide gap between the number of transplants our country needs and the donors or transplants that actually occur. Our NSS volunteers were an active part in doing so.
The initiative intends to raise awareness about organ donation and encourage people to lend their support to the cause. It also aims to push for policy changes in the existing organ donation procedure and urge the government to expand the services of the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization.
Our students told people at the mall that the current organ donation rate in our country is 0.5 donors per million population as compared to over 30 donors per million in some western countries. From discussions pertaining to organ donation in India to fun activities like interactive mobile games, giant puzzles etc. there was something for everyone.
