NSS Department celebrates National Voter’s Day, students take Pledge

NSS department organised an event on National Voter’s Day. National Voters Day is celebrated every year to spread awareness about the necessity of voting and to encourage the young generation towards voting rights. The main objective is to increase the enrollment of voters, especially the eligible ones.

More than 70 NSS volunteers attended the event, which started with an Oath Taking Ceremony in which everyone present took the Pledge – We the people of India take oath on keeping firm faith on democracy and strive for the independent, impartial and peaceful election, and will cast the vote irrespective of religion, community and language.

Celebrations start with a welcome speech, followed by various activities including a debate competition, poetry competition, turn the table and poster with slogan making. Ms. Deepti Awasthi and Mr. Vikramjit Singh, from Chitkara University Language Centre, were the judges for the event. The event concluded with an award ceremony, where winners were presented with Certificates and goodies. Ms. Neelam Verma, Programme Coordinator, NSS; participated in the award ceremony and congratulated the participants for making the event successful.
