NOVATE ’19 challenges students, brings innovation to fore

Chitkara University organised its 3rd Annual Problem Solving Challenge NOVATE 2019 on April 2, 2019, where students were challenged to solve 35 problems which were identified in the society.

A total of 270 teams participated, out of which top 60 teams were shortlisted for the Grand Finale of NOVATE 2019. The students and faculty members worked relentlessly on finding innovative solutions to the problems and presented Proof of Concepts and Prototypes to eminent jury members. The jury comprised of Dr. Shefali Gupta, Dr. Rakesh Ahuja, Dr. Deepali Gupta and Mr. Channpreet Singh – from Chitkara University, Punjab.

The valedictory function was graced by Hon’ble Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Vice Chancellor; Dr. Archana Mantri, Pro Vice-Chancellor; and respected guests Mr. Puneet Kumra, Director – Head of Fresher Hiring; Mr. Vaibhav Deshpande, Talent Acquisition Lead; and Mr. Sourav Biswas, Senior Manager, Capgemini. The guests shared their words of wisdom with students, appreciate their work and encouraged the participants to continue to do well ahead in their future too.

The winning teams and their projects, which secured distinct positions in Annual Innovation Challenge NOVATE 2019 are – ‘Milk Dispensing machine” by Aadarsh and Team from Department of Electrical Leet and ‘Square One Application’ by Aayush and Team from CA Department won the innovation challenge and bagged the first prize of Rs. 10,000. The innovative ‘Automatic Phone Clock Box’ by Karanvir and Team and ‘Paper Recycling Machine’ by Sharanjit Kaur and Team, from the Department of Applied Sciences, stood second with prize money of Rs. 7,000. ‘Biometric ID using Arduino’ made by Vikrant Walia and his team and ‘Education Learning Kit for rural village kids’ by Varun Pratap and his team were placed third winning Rs. 5,000.

NOVATE 2019 had achieved huge success with the great contribution of Dr. Archana Mantri, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; and Dr. Sachin Ahuja, Director Research; and the students who brought new heights in innovation.
