National Level Workshop on Malware Analysis

ACM Student Chapter, Chitkara University organized a two-day National level Workshop on Malware Analysis. Dr. Vijay Laxmi from Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur was the Expert for the event. She was accompanied by her Research scholars Mr. Anil Saini and Ms. Smita Naval.

The distinguished expert enlightened the participants with introduction to malware, its types, modern trends, recent malware captured worldwide, malware writers’ techniques like gadgeting, and clickjacking, detection methods like traditional approach and algorithmic approach and ways to protect ourselves from the attacks in communication era. She expounded on static and dynamic malware analysis approaches used by security analysts.

The second day was completely hand-on based in which Ms. Smita Naval and Mr. Anil Saini shared their research results and live session of mitigating malware samples and analyzing reports generated in Cuckoo sandbox. One session was based on web browser based attacks using BeEF in Kali Linux as a virtual machine. 15 faculty members for various Engineering colleges participated in this research oriented endeavor.
