National Art Workshop and Seminar “Chitram” hosted with renowned artists and scholars
Chitkara University, Punjab, in association with its Office of Student Affairs, Office of Architecture, Design & Planning, and Doctoral Research Centre (DRC), organised a five-day national art workshop and seminar titled “Chitram” from 26th to 30th April 2023. Held at the Exploretorium, the event brought together 16 renowned artists from across India, 20 scholars, the Dean, the Doctoral Research Committee, Chitkara Design School, and 30 students from the Design and Interior Design Schools. This event was a testament to promoting quality education and lifelong learning opportunities.
The workshop also featured internationally acclaimed artists, with Sh. Jagannath Panda serving as the resource person and chief guest. Notable guests of honour included Padma Shri Shyam Sharma and Dr. Alka Pande, Director of the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Their presence contributed to inclusive and equitable education by offering access to knowledge from experts.
On 27th April 2023, Sh. Jagannath Panda delivered an insightful PPT lecture titled “An Interesting Journey of Jagannath Panda (Artist) and His Various Perceptions,” followed by discussions that fostered critical thinking and knowledge sharing, essential components of quality education. The event saw participation from deans, directors, HoDs, faculty, and students, contributing to a rich learning environment that aims to ensure inclusive, quality education for all.
The event featured artists such as Tapan Das (New Delhi), Dr. Anup Chand (Ghaziabad), Pradosh Swain (Ghaziabad), Ashish Pandy (Cuttack), Dr. Sunil Biswakarma (Varanasi), Prof. Bhim Malhotra (Chandigarh), Rama Suresh (Hyderabad), Anita Mallik Raghuvanshi (Delhi), Sudhanshu Sutar (Gurugram), Madan Lal (Punjab), Indu Tripathi (Delhi), Amarendra Maharana (Odisha), Vinay Sharma (Rajasthan), Padma Shri Shyam Sharma (Bihar), Jagtap (Mumbai), and Dr. Nandala Thakur (Shimla). The event fostered global citizenship education by bringing diverse talents and perspectives together, contributing to the sustainable development of students and scholars.
The success of “Chitram” underscored the importance of artistic education and interdisciplinary learning, aligning with the goals of sustainable development by promoting creativity, innovation, and the development of relevant skills for personal and professional growth.
