Mandeep Makkar, GRM of Ramada Plaza Hotel, Chandigarh talks about latest trends in the hospitality industry

An interactive guest lecture was organised by Chitkara College of Hotel Management and Catering for its second-semester students. Mr Mandeep Makkar, GRM of Ramada Plaza Hotel, Chandigarh interacted with the students and spoke about latest trends in the industry and on professionalism, manners and guest dealing.

He stated that without giving too much away and without further ado, the guest experiences arising from these trends are:

• Flawless
• Modified
• Transformative-travel-inspired
• Food-focused
• Eco-friendly

Each of these guest experiences is analytical of changes in the industry, some of which may turn out to create more impact than other and are more long-lasting than others. Mr Makkar stated that hotels must always be open to change, whether it comes in the form of new technology or new attitudes about travel and this is where a hospitality professional gains. He gave some important inputs to students, which proved to be a learning experience for our budding professionals.

In the end, he told the students that hospitality professionals should always be open to criticism and some flak because that makes room for improvement.
