Lohri festival celebrated with traditional band performance and folk dance
The Lohri festival at Chitkara University in Punjab was an exceptional celebration that took place on January 13, 2023. The event was divided into three segments, each one offering a unique and memorable experience for everyone in attendance.
The indoor ground, Sportorium, was bustling with stalls offering traditional Punjabi delicacies, such as Makki di roti, Sarson da Saag, and Tikki. The aroma of these delicacies wafted through the air, invoking a sense of nostalgia for Punjabi culture. Outside the ground, a beautifully decorated tractor was placed for glimpses of Punjab, along with a selfie point for pictures. The highlight of the event was the bonfire that was arranged outside the Exploretorium. The Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Madhu Chitkara, along with the Registrar sir, deans, and directors, started the bonfire and danced to the dholak tunes played by C2S2 Dhwani members.
The stage was beautifully decorated with Lohri-themed flexes and decorations, and the performances put up by the members of C2S2 were nothing short of spectacular. The performances depicted all the Punjabi rituals, including Ladies Sangeet, the birth of a child, and the significance of Lohri. The performances were in the form of a theatre act, a traditional musical band performance, Luddhi, Giddha, and an electrifying Bhangra performance. The students thoroughly enjoyed the show and the entire Lohri celebration.
It was truly an evening to remember, filled with delicious food, lively music, and beautiful performances that brought the vibrant and colorful Punjabi culture to life.
