International Conference on Computing, Analytics & Networks – ICAN2017 conducted at Chitkara University, Punjab

International Conference on Computing, Analytics & Networks – ICAN2017 was conducted by Chitkara University with technical support from Springer, New Delhi and in association with British Columbia Institute of Technology, NewGen Software and Student Chapters of IEEE, IETE and CSI on October 27-28, 2017. ICAN2017 was attended by around 100 delegates from five different countries. The conference featured four keynote talks by renowned researchers from different parts of the worlds, one Hands-on Tutorial and Paper Presentations in three tracks. The post-conference proceedings of ICAN2017 will be published by Springer in CCIS series.

CAN2017 featured four Keynote Talks in the current research areas of Computing, Analytics and Networks. These talks were delivered by renowned researchers from different parts of the world. Following were Keynote Talks in chronological order, delivered during ICAN2017.

  • Model Predictive Optimization for Energy Storage-based Smart Grids was delivered by Dr. Pao-Ann Hsiung, National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan.
  • Intelligent Modelling of Moisture Sorption Isotherms in Milk Protein-Rich Extruded Snacks Prepared from Composite Flour was given by Dr. A.K. Sharma – ICAR – NDRI, Karnal.
  • Using Open Clinical Data to Create an Embeddable Prediction System For Hospital Stay was delivered by Dr. Vijay Mago, Lakehead University, Canada.
  • Quantum Communication – Analysing Fundamental Building Blocks for Quantum based Communication was given by Dr Joseph Spring, University of Hertfordshire, UK.

During ICAN2017, a half-day hands-on tutorial was also conducted. The tutorial entitled Meta-Heuristic and Hyper-Hyper-Heuristic Applications for Search based Software Engineering Problems was also delivered by Dr. Kamal Z Zamli – Professor, CSE, Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia.

The paper presentations of ICAN2017 were conducted in three parallel tracks with each track comprising of six to eight papers. In each track the ‘Best Paper’ was declared and awarded. Following are the Best Paper Award Winners:-

Track 1 – Computing – Performance Evaluation Of De Noising Techniques using Full Reference Image Quality Metrics – Palwinder Singh, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

Track 2 – Analytics – Connected Cluster Based Node Reduction And Traversing For The Shortest Path On Digital Map – Dhaval Kadia, Maharaja Sayajirao, University Of Baroda, Vadodara.

Track 3 – Networks – Conservation Of Feature Sub-Spaces Across Rootkit Sub-Families – Prasenjit Das, Chitkara University, H.P.

ICAN 2017 proved to be a learning experience for all.
