Chitkara University, Punjab Campus, organised a two-day workshop on ‘Higher Education Accreditation’ in collaboration with IET, The Institution of Engineering and Technology, on December 7-8, 2018.

IET Accreditation is an internationally respected benchmark awarded to high-quality programs that provide an ideal preparation for aspiring professional engineers. The workshop was organised by the Chitkara University Accreditation and Quality Assurance Cell (CUAQAC), and the sessions were successfully conducted by Dr (Prof.) Dik Morling, Emeritus Professor, University of Westminster, UK, and Member of Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Academic Accreditation Committee; along with Mr Raghavan S, Head – Membership & Partnership (India) at The Institution of Engineering and Technology. The workshop saw an overwhelming response, with more than 70 participants from various departments attending and actively participating in the sessions.

The inception set the platform for Chitkara University to receive IET Academic Affiliate status, and consequently, an agreement was signed between the two parties. In addition to validating the quality of the Chitkara University’s programs, IET Accreditation will also provide direct benefits to its graduating students. It will allow better International mobility, job prospects in global engineering consulting firms and acceptance for graduate students in foreign universities, opportunities for interdisciplinary research as well as exchanges.

The IET is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community and IET accreditation, licensed by the Engineering Council, covers a broad spectrum of engineering and technology subjects. It is recognised around the world as an indicator of quality through the Washington and Sydney accords, governed by the International Engineering Alliance (IEA). Departments with IET accredited programs are eligible to apply for the EUR-ACE label, awarded by European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE).
