IEEE CUIET Student Branch organised an expert talk on Information Security

IEEE, Chitkara University Institute of Engineering & Technology (CIET) Student Branch organized an Expert Talk on Information Security and we were delighted to have Mr. Manu Zacharia, CEO of HackIT Technology as the resource person. He has been awarded the prestigious Microsoft Most Valuable Professional – MVP award consecutively for 4 years in Enterprise Security stream, also honored with the prestigious Asia Pacific Information Security Leadership Achievements Award for 2010 from (ISC)2 under Senior Information Security Professional Category. He has many other awards in his bag, the list very long.

About 100 students were present at the event who learned about various aspects of Information Security, like how a deleted mail can be recovered in a period of 15 years and how your data can be accessed by the hacker on Public WI-FI. He also shared useful information on cyber-attacks and the importance of Data Security, Confidentiality, Authentication and Integrity. One among the many interesting parts of the event was when he told the students how an account is vulnerable to be hacked in a few seconds. Another interesting part of the event was when he showed, live, how many attacks were launched in the world when we were sitting and attending this talk.

The event was a great experience for everyone present and was also an eye-opener for the ones who were unaware of the importance of Information Security.
