Health Sciences students take Industrial Visit to Verka Production Plant
Faculty and Students of the Department of Nursing, Chitkara School of Health Sciences, visited the Verka Milk Plant in Chandigarh, as a part of the outdoor learning activity.
During the visit, the company officials briefed the students with the sourcing of raw material policy and showed the storage vessels. Then, students were taken to the assembly line where the processed milk was being packed as per the category. And the storage process/cold store of the company was also shown to the students. Later the outbound logistics process was explained and the distribution of packed milk was shown.
The visit was aimed at providing exposure to in-depth analysis of production operations being followed by the company. Students were given an insight into various departments, including, collection, segregation, storage and production areas of various Verka products. Students also learnt about pasteurization of milk, laboratory tests and various hygienic standards used in a milk plant.
