Health Science students attend workshop on ‘Advanced Nursing Skills’
A two-day workshop on ‘Advanced Nursing Skills’ was organised for B.Sc Nursing students on November 28-29, 2019, at the campus.
The workshop was organised under the guidance of Dr. Harmeet Kaur, Principal; and Dr. Vinay Kumari, Vice Principal, Dept. of Nursing, Chitkara School of Health Sciences. The workshop was aimed at enhancing knowledge & skills in performing various advanced procedures, including, ECG interpretation, BLS & ACLS, use of Ventilator and Hemodynamic Monitoring.
Day-1 of the workshop a Pre-Test was taken for all the participants to check their previous knowledge, which was followed by an introductory session by Ms. Mandeep Kaur. Next, a lecture on ECG and its Interpretation was delivered by Dr. Harmeet Kaur. Participants were taught to calculate the heart rate, normal intervals & segments of ECG. Mr. Maninder Singh delivered a lecture on ‘Life Support Techniques’ which was followed by a Session on ‘Hemodynamic Monitoring’ by Dr. Vinay Kumari.
Day-2 of the workshop included a Lecture on ‘Mechanical Ventilation’ which was delivered by Ms. Rashmi Goswami, followed by hands-on training and practice on BLS & ACLS, Hemodynamic Monitoring and Mechanical Ventilation demonstrated by Mr.Maninder Singh, Dr. Vinay Kumari and Ms. Rashmi Goswami. The workshop concluded with a Post-Test conducted to assess the knowledge of participants and the effectiveness of the workshop.
