Harkaran Singh of Mechanical branch (2004-2008) on ‘Biking with a mission’ to save and educate girl child

Chitkara’s Pride, Harkaran Singh, alumni of Chitkara University, Punjab, Mechanical branch, 2004-2008, is spreading awareness about save and educate girl child. He is heading from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and has been acknowledged for his effort through an article “BIKING WITH A MISSION”, in QUEST Magazine. Harkaran is biking across India to spread the ‘Save and Educate Girl Child’ cause.
Harkaran aims to ride through all the states that fall between North and south, touching each capital city, on his bike. The Chitkara alumni, who began his journey has spoken to several people about his cause who have come across
He says that his inspiration lies in the condition girls are in India and he, through his gesture, wants to spread awareness on how important it is to save and educate girls.
People he meets during his journey often ask him the reason behind his journey and he takes the opportunity to open a dialogue with them on the importance of educated girls in society.
He has tried to touch on the problem of female foeticide. He said that he plans to do everything to protect the girl child and contribute towards educating them.
Harkaran says that he is awed by the country’s diversity and the support that he is receiving from so many people from across the country.
While campaigning for the cause of Save and Educate Girl Child, he has got support from many young girls and this is the most important inspiration that keeps him going. His journey was flagged off by Dr Madhu Chitkara, who takes pride in having alumni like Harkaran associated with Chitkara University.
