An educational visit to the Leprosy Colony, Rajpura for BSc Nursing 2nd & 4th-year students
The students of B.Sc. Nursing 2nd year (60 students) and 4th year (35 students) Chitkara College of Nursing has done an educational visit to the Leprosy colony at Islampur road Rajpura on February 23rd, 2018, under the supervision of Mrs Lija Mathew, Mrs Dimple, Ms Ranjana and Mrs Vijinder.
The main objective of the visit was to identify the lifestyle, management of complications, medical follow up and disability limitations of leprosy-affected individuals. Around 48 leprosies affected population is living together in that colony which includes families with children too. There are a Temple and Church also inside the colony. Building constructions are going on with the help of private donation funds. Students spent 3 hours in the colony gained practical knowledge regarding the difficulties of leprosy people and accomplished their objectives of the visit.
Students donated rice, wheat flour, grains, pulses and fruits to the residence in the leprosy colony.
