Dr Jyotsna Kaushal gives session on yoga, meditation to Bhutanese, Nepalese students
It was time to relieve stress for our Bhutanese and Nepalese students as they were given a session on yoga and meditation on campus by Dr. Jyotsna Kaushal.
The practice of emptying the mind of all extraneous thoughts to increase awareness of one’s self and surroundings is called meditation. Dr Jyotsna stated that it is a common practice to concentrate on one particular thing in order to aid the process of meditation. This could range from focusing on an imaginary point of light, a particular object, or by chanting the word ‘om’.
She told the students that the combination of different yoga asanas would be very helpful in the long run. It is a stress reliever as some of the techniques helps you to free your mind and soul. The concentration and level of the pose also helps. The students derived a lot of benefit from the session as Dr Jyotsna stressed on the need of practicing yoga and meditation every day.
