Chitkara School of Applied Sciences organized a Radio talk on Disaster Management and Related Issues for Community at the studio of Radio Chitkara 107.8 FM for the faculty, staff and the common man. Dr.Charu Khosla, Associate Professor of the Environmental Science, introduced each of the Four speakers who were invited to share their expertise.

Prof Arun Sharma spoke about the frequent Landslides and the Climatic Changes in the Kangra region, Dr D.P. Gupta informed about the various Interruptions which occurs for various social services when disaster happens and role of Govt. agencies involved for rescue and rehabilitation, it’s Preparedness and relief, was being highlighted by Assistant Dean, Dr. Mohit Kakkar .

Dr.Jyotsna Kaushal, Dean School of Applied Sciences, talked much about the Man-made disasters.She talked about the causes of fires in buildings by putting in front the recent Kamla Mills Fire disaster of 2017 and recalling the major Uphaar Cinema Fire Case of 1997 in which 59 deaths occurred due to suffocation and stampede. She also gave concluding remarks by informing how to cope up immediately when an earthquake strikes.
