CULC students & staff attend ‘Progressive Punjab Invest Summit’

Students & faculty members from Chitkara University Language Centre, visited the national ‘Progressive Punjab Invest Summit’ at ISB, Mohali on December 6, 2019.

The team attended two sessions at the summit. The first session ‘Agriculture & Food Processing – Punjab: Value addition to Agriculture Economy’ was declared open by Mr. Kamal Bali, President & MD, Volvo Group; and had an eminent experts’ panel including Mr. Nikhil Sahni, Sr. Group President, Yes Bank ltd.; Mr. Nishant Arya ED, JBM; Mr. Rama Shankar Pandey, MD, HELLA India Lighting Ltd.; Mr. Harjinder Dhaliwal, MD, Virgin Hyperloop One; Mr. Mahesh Babu, CEO, Mahindra Electric; Mr. Naveen Munjal, MD, Hero Electric; Mr. Gopal Bansal, Director, SML ISUZU; Ms. Richa Sahay, Lead, World Economic Forum. Dignitaries spoke on forthcoming changes in business for new generations in Mohali and Chandigarh. They shared experiences in economic problems and presented prospective solutions for the same.

The second session was a panel discussion on the significance of using clean fuel, electric mobilization of vehicles and measures for road safety. It emphasised on industry with regard to changing gears for Industry 4.0, new Mobility and the Future of Mobility in Punjab – Challenges & Opportunities and Healthcare – Medical Tourism: Developing Punjab into a hub of domestic & international Medical Tourism, IT/ITeS, and ESDM – Emerging IT technologies: Opportunities for Industry & State, Tourism – Unlocking tourism potential of Punjab, Invest in the best – Punjab an opportunity for Japan. The Session was opened by Mr. Anirudh Tiwari, IAS, Principal Secretary & Finance – Punjab. He explained about new startups in IT/ITeS and ESDM in Mohali. Then introduced all panelist – Mr. Sofi Zahoor, Director, Quark Express; Mr. Sameer Goel, Senior Vice President, Infosys; Prof. S K Das Director, IIT Ropar; Dr. Omkar Rai, Director General, STPI; Ms. Komal Talwar, Co-founder & Managing Director, TT Consultant; Mr. Rajeev Rai, CEO & Cofounder, BEBO Technologies.

At present, there are 34 Japanese companies that are operational in Chandigarh, and by 2020 the numeral will change drastically, paving way for youngsters to find success in the future here.
