CSR holds Social Media Workshop for Chitkara students
Social media is a two-way communication that can deliver exceptional results when it’s done right. Keeping this in mind, an illustrated session on Social Media: what is it, its evolution, its primary users and outreach; and Safe Surfing, was conducted by Centre for Social Research (CSR) for BBA and B.Com first-year students at the Chitkara University, Punjab, campus.
The workshop was aimed at teaching students social media best practices, shortcuts, tools, and techniques for creating an effective social media presence. Students were told about the web application that allows users to create a semi-public profile, i.e., a profile with a mixture of personal and private information, communicate with those who are their connections, and build an online community. The workshop also brought up issues like racism and patriarchy in the online world, and effective tips to deal with them.
Centre for Social Research is a non-profit organisation based in New Delhi and they discussed the concerns related to online safety mechanisms; counter speech and using social media for social change with the youth.
