Comprehensive GDs for CSE students by Toastmasters
The only word, which is a metonym for the idea of a public speaking arena is the Toastmasters organisation. It was our third year CSE students who explored words and more during ‘Group Discussions’.
The gathering resplendent with enthusiasm and encouragement for the young programmers thoroughly enjoyed the brain tickling session on the issues that are prevalent in the country today.
Group Discussion is a process where exchange of ideas and opinions are debated. This process is mostly used for selecting candidates for a dynamic profile. Many large companies will use group discussions as a type of qualitative research.
Group discussions are useful because they allow people to communicate together in a natural environment. It helps identify the drivers or leaders in a group. CSL, under the banner of Toastmasters’ Club, organized comprehensive GDs to help the students develop their communication skills, to nurture logical thinking, receptive attitude and out of the box approach; skills necessary to excel in a competitive environment.
The various topics discussed were ‘Does beauty and brains go together,’ ‘Are movies corrupting the Indian youth?’, ‘Is dependence on computers a good thing?’ Gitanshu Malhotra bagged the first prize and Somya Gupta bagged the second prize. Manreet and Shiven executed the event with poise.
