Chitkara University, Punjab celebrated the 77th Independence Day at the campus with a grand cultural extravaganza that paid homage to the monumental movements and heroes that shaped India’s destiny.

The celebrations commenced with Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University, hoisting the flag. Escorted to the arena by the NSS and NCC cadets, Dr. Madhu Chitkara, along with Dr. Archana Mantri, Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University, and other dignitaries, graced the occasion.

The celebration began with a poignant tribute that retraced the footsteps of India’s historic movement, Satyagraha, and honoured and celebrated the lives of the freedom fighters who meticulously sculpted the destiny of our nation and played pivotal roles in the nation’s struggle for independence. The Chitkara University campus was adorned in tricolour, which set the stage for a cultural program that transformed the university into a prism of history, reflecting the vibrant hues of India’s past.

The cultural performances, themed ‘Nation First, Always First’ unfolded as a mesmerising journey through time, capturing the essence of India’s evolution. The performances were a harmonious blend of cultural dances that showcased India’s rich diversity, stirring renditions of patriotic songs that resonated with the spirit of Kesari, and reenactments of monumental moments from the lives of iconic figures like Gandhi and Bose, who shaped the course of the nation’s struggle for freedom.

The auditorium reverberated with the resonating words of Jawaharlal Nehru and the spirited cry of Bhagat Singh’s ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ filling audience hearts with patriotic fervour. The stirring verses of ‘Vande Mataram’ filled the air. The cultural performances acted as a time machine, transporting the audience through the annals of history to relive the sacrifices and triumphs of the past.

Dr. Madhu Chitkara, in her address, emphasised the significance of unity, dedication, and the indomitable spirit that led to the nation’s independence. Her words served as a beacon of light, igniting the flames of patriotism and encouraging the audience to uphold the ideals of the nation and contribute to its progress.

The celebration at Chitkara University marked not only the commemoration of India’s 77th Independence Day but also a collective reiteration of the commitment to carry forward the legacy of freedom fighters and visionaries.
