Chitkara University ties up with Dassault Systèmes and Tata Technologies to set up a center of excellence

Chandigarh, September 05, 2013: Chitkara University,one of the leading multi-disciplinary private universities in Chandigarh,today announced the setting up of a ‘Laboratory for Advanced Design and Development in Engineering Research’ (LADDER) at its Campus in Chandigarh with the support of Dassault Systèmes and its partner Tata Technologies. This unique initiative and the alliance to support it were announced today by Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Vice Chancellor, Mr. Mohit Chitkara, Vice Chairman, Mr. Ankit Khurana, Director – Aautosync, Chitkara University.Dr. Chandan Chowdhury, Managing Director-India, Dassault Systèmes Mr. Anand Bhade – Vice President and Mr. Manish Kohli – AVP – Tata technologies, were also present on the occasion.

Expressing his excitement at the association, Dr. Chandan Chowdhury, Managing Director-India, Dassault Systèmes said, “India needs a skilled community of engineers to capitalise on the emerging opportunities in the automotive industry and we are delighted to partner with Chitkara University to facilitate the creation of this pool. I believe that this association will help both the students and members of the faculty, access international best practices in the area of innovative engineering and design solutions.” He added, “I hope this will be a step towards the creation of a set of professionals who would take India into the league of an international innovation hub in automotive technologies.”

Ankit Khurana, Director, Aautosync – Steinbeis Centre for Automotive Technologies said; “Through this facility, Chitkara University and Aautosync will provide hands-on training to participants using Dassault Systèmes Version 6 technology, which is intended to enhance the employability of engineering graduates in various industries. Apart from this, the Centre also intends to promote conceptual and academic projects that will be led by experienced faculty from Tata Technologies. The range of software from Dassault Systemes includes CATIA V6, DELMIA V6, ENOVIA V6 and 3DVIA Composer. The content and skills offered will also be upgraded on a regular basis with new contents, which will ensure that DS’ offering are in line with the latest industry standards and requirements.”
Chitkara University also announced the results of an SIM-CAD contest which was organised on the sidelines of its Aautofiesta, Global Automotive Week event where the launch was announced. 57 number of students participated in the event and the following were the winners in the select categories of SIM-CAD seat design
