Chitkara University students develop ‘Twitter Bot’ for Chandigarh Police in Hackathon, earn appreciation for their idea
Chitkara University students, Nitish, Nakul & Paritosh; of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, participated in Chandigarh Police Hackathon – 2019, organised by the Chandigarh Police, and sponsored by Stellar Data Solutions (P) Ltd, NVIDIA and HDFC Bank. Shri. Shashank Anand, SSP/Security & Traffic, Chandigarh; inaugurated the event on November 30, 2019, at Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh; and continued till December 1, 2019.
Chitkara University students developed a ‘Twitter Bot’ that analyses tweets containing ‘Hashtags’ related to Chandigarh Police and created ‘alerts on a dedicated web portal in real time’ so that necessary action can be taken immediately.
The main motive of the Hackathon event was to encourage creative problem solving, drive innovation, promote a collaborative work environment, providing opportunity and exposure to technical enthusiasts and networking. All the participants of the Hackathon event were asked to select the Problem Statements from a range of topics, including, Cyber Parenting, CyberPatrol, DarkWebCrawler, Malware Analysis. Speech-to-Text and Penetration Testing. A total of 58 students/professionals from different Universities & companies participated, from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and other states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Delhi, J&K & Rajasthan.
After a marathon coding time of 36 hours & Evaluation round of approx. 7 hours top three winners were selected and others appreciated their efforts for developing prototypes on excellent ideas.
