Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University was invited to speak at the QS Higher Ed Summit: Middle East & Africa. This year’s QS Higher Ed Summit: Middle East & Africa, was hosted by the American University of the Middle East (AUM) from March 12–14 at the Cultural Center, American University of the Middle East (AUM) Campus, Kuwait.

Dr. Madhu Chitkara shared her views on ‘Universities’ evolving roles in the SDG era: Addressing the global challenge by institutionalizing collaborations with communities and governments.

Dr. Chitkara emphasized the significance of the United Nations-mandated Sustainable Development Goals and global endeavors to ensure a healthy future for future generations. She underscored the link between sustainable development and the SDGs, as well as our joint efforts to align with global objectives.

During her presentation, Dr. Chitkara noted that approximately 40% of our university’s energy needs are met by solar plants and that complete recycling of sewerage water and the green building concept are just a few of the many initiatives underway. She also mentioned that state governments have recognized our efforts in Punjab and Haryana, as well as national and international agencies.

Dr. Chitkara expressed confidence that global efforts on the SDGs are beginning to bear fruit, but she also stressed the need for consistency and incredible momentum in our efforts. During the three-day conference, she met with senior dignitaries to discuss various aspects of the changing educational landscape.
