Chitkara University receives funding to establish ‘Science and Technology Intervention Hub’

We are delighted to share that Chitkara University, Punjab, has bagged a prestigious ‘Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Hub Project’ worth INR 1.82 Cr from the Department of Science and Technology , DST, Government of India under the Science for Equity, Empowerment and Development (SEED) Division. This project is going to be beneficial for the 2000+ population of the SC community of Patiala and Rajpura in the District of Patiala, Punjab.

Through the funding received from the DST, four technological interventions have been proposed by Chitkara University that will directly benefit the community. By using IoT Technologies for Soil, Water and Cattle Health Monitoring, we propose to directly impact the per hectare Farm Produce. By using Water Technologies, we propose to increase the awareness about Clean Water Practices, make Low Cost Water Purification Systems available to each household. Use of AVR Technologies will increase the accessibility and affordability of Primary Education.

The use of E-Healthcare Systems is proposed to make low cost screening devices available to grass root levels. With the recent turn of events, SEED, DST has given us permission to divert the funds partially to create awareness of Novel Coronavirus amongst the target population. We are continuously using Chitkara FM 109.7 FM to do the same.

Dr Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab, reinstated her commitment and support to the Government of India, Government of Punjab and to SEED, DST. She also reiterated that we, as a university, will keep doing our bit to help the community in the best ever way possible.
