Chitkara University Partners with PJMT to Advance Sustainability in Fashion Design
In celebration of World Environment Day, Chitkara University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Prem Jain Memorial Trust (PJMT). This strategic partnership underscores the university’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in fashion design education.
The MoU was formalised by Payal Jain, Founder Trustee of PJMT and a distinguished fashion designer, alongside Prof. (Dr.) Vaibbhavi Pruthviraj Ranavaade, Dean of Fashion Design at Chitkara Design School. The event was further honoured by the presence of Shivani Saini, Director of Career Advancement Services at Chitkara University, and Prof. Sanjay Razora, Head of the Department of Fashion Design at Chitkara Design School.
This collaboration aims to foster the exchange of cutting-edge research and advancements in sustainability, directly benefiting students and stakeholders involved in environmental and sustainable practices. The initiative will significantly bolster the department’s FASH CO-LAB project, which is dedicated to integrating sustainable methodologies and innovative practices within the fashion industry.
As part of this collaboration, Payal Jain will join the Board of Studies for the B.Des. Fashion Design Program at Chitkara Design School. Her inclusion will bring invaluable expertise and industry insights, enriching the curriculum and providing students with direct access to pioneering developments in sustainable fashion.
Dr. Vaibbhavi Pruthviraj Ranavaade expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “This MoU represents a significant milestone in our journey towards embedding sustainability in our fashion design education. By partnering with PJMT, we aim to equip our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead the industry towards a more sustainable future.”
