Chitkara University, Panjab Univ, launch network of blood donors

In order to fight the shortage of blood prevalent in society, some volunteers from Chitkara University and Panjab University, Chandigarh, have joined hands together and launched a network of blood donors. The initiative is now an NGO. The organization known as Emergency Youth Blood Donor Organisation or EYBDO, now has about 4000 members and is still growing.

Anybody needing blood anywhere in the country can call up on an emergency helpline number provided by the organization and it is 9781848587. Not only people who need blood can contact this number, but donors can also send in their information. A willing donor has to give details like the STD code, blood group, gender, age, name, and the details will get registered with EYBDO. Whenever the services of donors are required, they will be contacted. The organization was started in November last year and has a web portal and a Facebook page also.
