Chitkara University joins TiECon 2022 as a Lanyard and Ecosystem Partner
TiE Chandigarh organized the 7th edition of its flagship event TiECon Chandigarh 2022 on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 at Hyatt Regency, Chandigarh. Chitkara University is the Lanyard and Ecosystem Partner for the event. It is the biggest entrepreneurial event in the Northern Region which focuses on opportunities and challenges faced by young and emerging entrepreneurs. The Summit featured business leaders from across India and abroad. The day-long power-packed summit included inspiring talks, discussions, motivating mentoring sessions and was an opportunity to network with likeminded passionate entrepreneurs.
The array of speakers included Harpal Singh Cheema, Finance Minister, Punjab; Ashneer Grover, Ex MD, Founder- BharatPe, Shark Tank fame; Jyoti Kamal, Executive Editor, TV18 Broadcast; Ghazal Alagh, Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer, Honasa Consumer Pvt Ltd (Mama Earth); Arjun Vaidya, Founder, Dr. Vaidya’s, Forbes Asia 30U30 and Patrick Hebert, Consul General, Canadian Embassy among others.
The theme of the event was “Adding Flight to Entrepreneurship” against the backdrop of funding and mentoring, given that a majority of the new start-ups face insurmountable pressures to fly for want of funds and mentors. The event brought together 35 organizations, including Startup India, Invest India, Software Technology Parks of India, Start-Up Punjab and Innovation Mission Punjab on a single platform. Nearly 150 companies participated at the expo stalls and start-up bazaar. These companies included some IT, fitness, arts, edtech, education, e-commerce and skill development start-ups. A number of start-ups from Chitkara University were also a part of the Start-Up Bazaar. These included 6DOF Solutions, SD academia, Quick Stay Pvt Ltd, Smartbin, Talk Back, Tanura denims and more. Start-up Sd academia was also featured on Shark Tank, India which aired on SONY TV India and was part of the investor pitch session and presented to raise capital round or angel round for their art start-up. “Chitkara University has been on the forefront of entrepreneurship development in our both universities. The buzz of entrepreneurship is global and our Startups are addressing some great problems and building scalable solutions around them” said Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor, Chitkara University.
Dr. Neha Tulli, Co-founder of 6DOF Solutions Private Limited won the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award by Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Mohali at TiECon 2022, Chandigarh. 6DOF Solutions Pvt Limited is a startup incubated and mentored by Chitkara University Centre for Entrepreneurship, Education and Development (CEED). 6DOF Solutions Pvt. Ltd., founded by Dr. Neha Tuli and Shivam Sharma, provides immersive technology solutions for the EdTech industry using technologies such as Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.
Neha has also won many awards in the past for her innovative products through her start-ups. She was the runner-up in TIE Women Global Pitch Competition – 2021, recognized in Startup India Innovation Week, 2022 & won first prize at IIT Bhubaneswar Hackathon on AR/VR. Her startup is supported by Chitkara Innovation Incubation Foundation (CIIF) with a MEITY TIDE 2.0 grant support of INR 7 Lakhs.
On the occasion, Sumeer Walia, Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CEED), Chitkara University said “This TiECon is special as it has brought many stakeholders at one event. Chitkara University is championing the cause of entrepreneurship with its strong ecosystem across its three incubators with over 150 start-ups. We aim to build impact savvy start-ups”.
