Mental Health Day

On Mental Health Day 2024, with the theme “It’s Time to Prioritise Your Mental Health at the Workplace,” the Chitkara Happiness Centre, in collaboration with the College of Education and Department of Psychology, organised a successful Wellness Oasis. The event aimed to promote mental well-being and provide a supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff, emphasising the importance of accessible mental health resources in the workplace.

The Wellness Oasis featured 11 themed canopies, each offering unique activities and resources. The Mindful Harmony Hub served as the registration counter with Wellness Passes, while the Mental Health Station encouraged participants to take the Mental Health Day pledge and use the Mood Meter. The Happiness Lab engaged attendees with PERMA activities and happiness-inducing games, while Nature’s Nest focused on nature’s impact on mental health and its alignment with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At the Art Your Emotions canopy, participants explored art therapy through activities like diya decoration and wall hangings. Laugh and Heal offered interactive laughter activities and games, while Khel Dhamaka featured stress-relieving games like the Happiness Maze, hoops, and the Lemon Race. The Peaceful Pedals canopy provided a calming cycling experience, accompanied by Bollywood inspirational quotes to promote gratitude and relaxation.

For those seeking a moment of tranquility, Melodious Moments of Mindfulness offered sound therapy and soothing music, while the Digital Detox canopy encouraged a break from technology with its phone-collecting initiative and relaxation zone. Lastly, Mood Bingo engaged participants with games designed to raise awareness of mental health.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from the Chitkara University community. Attendees engaged in mindfulness exercises, sought support, and accessed materials on mental health in the workplace. The collaborative effort made the experience enriching and valuable for all involved.

Through this initiative, Chitkara University reaffirmed its dedication to prioritising mental health, fostering a supportive campus community, and promoting well-being in both academic and professional environments.
