Chitkara University Hosts the Conference on Advances in Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation
The Department of Physiotherapy at Chitkara School of Health Sciences successfully hosted the ‘Second International Conference on Advances in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation-2023’ at Chitkara University, Punjab. Themed “Emerging Trends and Evolving Practices in Electrotherapeutic and Diagnostic Approaches: A Bottomless Ocean of Possibilities,” the conference attracted prominent figures and experts in the field from around the globe.
The inauguration ceremony, graced by Dr. Archana Mantri, Vice Chancellor of Chitkara University, alongside Dr. S C Sharma, Registrar, and Dr. Sonika Bakshi, Principal of Chitkara School of Health Sciences, set a tone of academic excellence and collaboration.
Distinguished guests, including Dr. Sanjiv Jha, President of the Indian Association of Physiotherapy; Shibu George, CEO of the German Leprosy and Tuberculosis Relief Association, India; and Dr. Ruchi Varshney, Treasurer of IAP and Head of the IAP Women’s Cell, added a wealth of experience and insight to the proceedings. Dr. Shagun Aggarwal, Dean, School of Health Sciences, Galgotias University, Noida, and several other experts further elevated the stature of the conference.

The second day featured enlightening sessions by esteemed speakers, including Dr. VP Singh (Retd.), Chief Physiotherapist, CTVS Unit, AIIMS New Delhi; Dr. Maman Paul, Associate Professor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar; Dr. Amreen Kaur, APTA Certified Clinical Instructor and ABPTRE Fellow in Training, Texas, USA; Dr. Sonia Singh, Assistant Professor, Punjabi University, Patiala; Dr. Supreet Bindra, Assistant Professor, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab; and Dr. Damanpreet, Principal, Saket Physiotherapy College, Panchkula.
In addition to the academic sessions, the event showcased the rich cultural talents of the students, highlighting the university’s commitment to a holistic educational experience. The conference also prioritised sustainability, incorporating recycled materials into its various components.
A noteworthy moment during the event was the unveiling of two books on Electrotherapy and Sociology by CBS Publishers & Distributors Pvt. Ltd. and PhysioBrid, adding an intellectual dimension to the conference.
